Benchmark indices traded lower as losses in the Oil & Gas, Capital Goods and IT sectors led shares lower. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 867 to 677 and 82 ended unchanged. Nifty settled at 12214.55. The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. which fell 2.72% or 13.40 points to trade at 477.80 at the close.

Global Markets
The heads of Japan Post Holdings Co and affiliates Japan Post Insurance Co and Japan Post will resign this week over the improper sales of insurance policies. U.S. stocks opened slightly higher as trade tensions between the U.S. and China continued to thaw. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.13% added about 18 points, 0.1%, opening near 28,569.
