Key equity market barometers ended with modest losses on Tuesday as negative global cues and firm crude oil prices spooked investors. Profit selling was witnessed in IT and FMCG shares after the strong outperformance in the past couple of months.The market opened lower and extended losses as the session progressed. The Nifty started above 11,950, but soon slipped below 11,900. After hitting an intraday low of 11,844.70, the index managed to close above 11,850.

Domino’s Pizza Group long-serving Chairman Stephen Hemsley will step down from the board, four months after the British pizza delivery chain announced retirement of its chief executive officer. Stocks fell in Europe while U.S. equity-index futures fluctuated in the countdown to major central bank meetings and a deadline on fresh China tariffs. Treasuries and the dollar were steady. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index fell 0.3%.
